Will paint get rid of cigarette smoke smell on wood furniture?

I bought an old vanity. I had kept it on my porch for weeks & never noticed a smell. I had planned to prime it then paint it black & put a coat of polyurethane over it. Today I pulled out the drawers to start sanding it & noticed they smelled of cigarette smoke. I cleaned them with Lysol all purpose cleaner, then with bleach & water. They still smell a little. I’m wondering if the smell will go away once I paint & seal it or if I should keep trying to get the smell out before I paint it. I don’t want to spend all that time making it look nice only to have to get rid of it because I can’t STAND cigarette smoke smell!

Wipe your furniture down with pine sol. Dillute as per instructions.
