WHAT TURNS IT GREEN restoring furniture?

I”m in the process of restoring an old table and parts of the wood is turning green. Anyone know Why?.
There are patches of green in different places various sizes the wood has knots in it.. The green is mostly around them. Also had laminated on it which I removed. This occurs when I’m in the first process Sanding.

paint? You were not exact enough in your descript. When did it turn green(what process of restoration were you doing). How green? Big patches or small. This could also be the wood type that was used on that table. Or maybe in its earlier life somebody painted it with copper preservative chemical(which is normally used on fence posts to prevent mold). You do not know the history of the table. So that stain you will have to sand past(if you were planning to stain and refinish) otherwise your only choice is painting..
