my mom brought me this ugly old bedroom furniture. how do i convince her i want to paint it white?

it’s wood. (walnut) and i just got it put into my room. it’s ok. only i think it will look better white. how do i convince her to let me paint it white?? there’s a twist though..it was her bed furniture from when she was little so im not quite sure that she’ll let me paint it.
