For my hand tools, is there any sort of clear rust protection?

I have just recently taken all the rust of three old hand saws and some screwdrivers, and I love the look of the metal with the original wood handles. Traditionally, I have just just Rustoleum or Spray Paint to protect my tools. However, I would like to keep the look of the metal.

Is there any sort of spray / gel / paste that can be applied to the metal to prevent rust while retaining the look of the metal?

Or, an easy way of asking:

Is there such a thing as clear rust protection?

Plain ole engine oil; It doesn’t evaporate or go away. It doesn’t break down or draw moisture. Soak a rag with oil, ring out the excess and wipe-em down. You’re good to go until you use them, then wipe-em down before you stow them away.
