Shoddy workmanship on fencing project.?
My husband and I arranged for some fencing to be erected in our front and back garden – plus three gates too.
I paid the men £1500 and they came to do the work. They’ve done the fencing in the back garden, but no gates and they’ve done some of the back. They then said that they couldn’t get hold of anymore wood for the time being and went away – that was 10 days go. We haven’t seen them since. They have left some tools here and a hired concrete mixer. We also have a bloody skip outside in the road.
The workmanship on the fencing in the front garden is not brilliant and the work on the back is very poor.
I desperately need for this job to be done and the gates erected as I have a small child and I’m worried that he’ll get out of the existing wrought iron gates – they’re very old.
What do we do now? My husband wants to sack them, but we’re worried about any comeback and don’t know what to do with the tools or concrete mixer!
Any advice – legal or otherwise?
Phone them,as there is a shortage of fencing material at the moment (honestly).
However to protect yourself demand a response or you will report them to local trading standards, which if they are legitimate should provoke a response.
Stewpot whilst I agree in part with what you have said, if you take legal action it may end up costing a lot more than £1500 This I know from chasing our debtors.
